Former Rave Members: Where are They Now?
After gaining its reputation as one of the top teams in Southeast Asia, Rave bid farewell to their roster last June. The Korean-based team, even though they were only formed in 2014, managed to climb their way to the top. Rave were the reigned champions in the Korean Dota 2 League Season 4 after beating MVP.Phoenix and they beat team Arcanys in the grand finals of Mineski Pro Gaming League (MPGL) Season 6.
Their performance in the Dota 2 Asia Championship captured the interest of the Dota 2 community. Other international teams lauded their performance and saw their potential, some Dota 2 casters and analysts agreed to it as well.
However it wasn’t enough to earn a spot in The International 5 (TI5) invite and they weren’t also able to beat the other teams in the Southeast Asian Qualifier.
Before the TI5 main event Rave’s team captain, Jio “Jeyo” Magdayao announced his departure to the team and the rest of the team followed suit. Currently, there is no announcement about Rave’s new Dota 2 lineup but the former members are all settled with their new teams.
Jeyo announced that he will be playing for a North American team, FireDota. Mark “Cast” Pilar will represent MSI-EvoGT while Ryo “Ryoyr” Hasegawa is now in Mineski.Gigabyte. They were supposed to be joined by Djardel “Chrissy” Mampusti, but he is now playing for Fnatic and will be training in Malaysia. Rave’s support player, Michael “ninjaboogie” Ross is playing under the banner of team Bananas along with Joel “XtiNcT” Chan.
With all of the former members of Rave already settled in with their new teams, it is time to prove themselves once again to the Dota 2 community that they have what it takes to be in the top tier.
