‘The Voice’ and Super Smash Bros. Competitor Christina Grimmie Dies After Getting Shot at a Concert

22 year-old Christina Grimmie, former competitor on TV Show ‘The Voice’, died after getting shot at her concert venue in Orlando, Florida, the evening of  June 10.

Soon after, the male suspect in her killing proceeded to shoot himself and is now dead.

Aside from being a singer, she was also an active member of the competitive Super Smash Bros. community. Attending multiple local, regional and even national tournaments in her home region of California, Grimmie primarily used the Ness character.

The statement from her representative read: “It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning.
