Wings Gaming Bests Team NP, 2-0, at Northern Arena BEAT Invitational

At the Northern Arena BEAT International, Wings Gaming bested Team NP in a short but hardfought series that pit Wings Gamings’ unconventional style versus Team NP and Jacky “EternalEnvy” Mao’s unconventional style.

Team NP, the hungry North American squad led by EternalEnvy bested NA favorites Evil Geniuses to face Wings Gaming in the finals. The team had a great start in the first game as quick rotations prevented Zhou “bLink” Yang’s Shadow Fiend from snowballing.

The game was in the bag for NP when they took their first barracks at 30 minutes, but a series of split-pushes and failed team fights slowly moved the needle back in favor for Wings. In the end, not even a 3-0 team fight win and an Aegis could help NP contain Chu “shadow” Zeyu’s Juggernaut as he led Wings to team fight win after team fight win. Wings Gaming end the game at 59 minutes.

In game 2, Wings took the momentum earned from game and confidently picked Alchemist for bLink. Zhang “Faith_bian” Ruida’s constant support to the midlane and creep stacking allowed the Chinese mid carry to farm both an Armlet and Radiance

But all the resources poured into the mid lane allowed NP to have an easy time pushing for the barracks in the bottom lane, securing a rax before 22 minutes. Wings responded by diving the NP back line with the combo of Slardar and Lifestealer. After the constant pick-offs, Wings were able to overpower their NA opposition and take the match at 36 minutes.

Wings Gaming came off another LAN win when they bested Newbee at the Nanyang Dota 2 Cruise Championship before coming to Canada. Their win at Northern Arena sets the stage for the rest of their North American tour as they are scheduled to participate at The Summit 6 in Los Angeles later this week, and the Boston Major at the end of November.
