Chinese Dota Player’s Wedding Broadcast Over New Streaming Site
Earlier today, all matches in China were postponed due to the much-awaited wedding of Zhang “xiao8” Ning, the former captain of NewBee who brought his team to victory at The International 4 and Zhao Jie; a Chinese model who also played for some time under LGD Girls’ Gaming. All professional matches were postponed so that the fans could take a break from the hectic Chinese Dota schedule and maximize the coverage of the ceremony.
The wedding was star-studded affair, with Chinese Dota personalities such as Bai “rOtk” Fan, Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng, Luo “Ferrari_430” Feichi, Jiang “YYF” Cen, Hock Chuan “ChuaN” Wong and other players attending ceremony. The celebration and its proceedings was shown on China’s newest internet streaming platform, called Huomao.tv, with concurrent views reaching as much as 300,000 at one point in time.
The ceremony was the first of three activities sponsored by Huomao with two more events lined up for the next two days. These include an introductory show match between Vici Gaming and Old Men tomorrow at 17.00 PST and another show match showcasing China’s current Dota superstars such as Lu “Maybe” Yao, Xu “fy” Linsen and Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang. The two teams will be captained by rOtK and LaNm respectively, on October 19 at 19.00 PST.
Huomao.tv is a streaming platform that has similarities to Twitch. The wedding, as well as the rest of the activities, was streamed both on Huomao as well as on Douyu, a popular streaming service in China.
