Smart welcomes top Visayas teams to Philippine Clash finals

25 August 2015, Cebu — Leading mobile network Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has awarded the top teams that will represent Visayas in the Philippine Clash, the biggest nationwide search for the best Clash of Clans players in the country.

The tournament, mounted by Smart in partnership with the Philippine eSports Organization, Philippine Clash of Clans Battleground and SM Cyberzone, offers over P2.3 million in prizes, the largest gaming pool prize ever in a local competition.

After hours of racing for trophies, Team Republika Pinas clinched the top spot with a with a net score of 5,358 cups while Team Cebu Baby 69 finished second with a net score of 5,131 cups, besting 20 other clans who flocked to SM City Cebu for a shot at representing the Visayas region.

Best of the best players

“We were really determined to win right from the very start,” said Republika Pilipinas clan leader Herlyn Tabudlo.
“The moment we learned about the competition, we picked the best players in our clan so we could bond online, practice and strategize. We came with a mindset to top the game, and we made it happen by communicating with each other all the time,” added Tabudlo, who revealed that his teammates even flew in from Laguna, Bulacan, Bacolod and Bohol to make it to the competition.

“We are a war clan and we are very used to online tournaments but this was the first time for us to join a live one,” said Cebu Baby 69 clan leader George Mendoza. “We knew we had a shot at representing Cebu so we chose the most active and diligent players in our clan to field in the tournament.”

 

Team sport

“We definitely enjoyed the experience and appreciated more how much of a team sport Clash of Clans is – you definitely need chemistry and cooperation among your group to make it to the top,” added Mendoza

Republika Pinas and Cebu Baby 69 went home with P25,000 and P10,000 in cash prizes, respectively, and are joining the top teams from the NCR leg (Pinoy Playhouse and Filipinos 24/7) and Southern Luzon (Tribo Pilipinas and Pinoy Team Elite) in the roster of finalists that will battle it out in the Philippine Clash 2015 Grand Finals on Sept. 26 at SM Mall of Asia.

 

Mindanao and Northern Luzon Qualifiers

The upcoming qualifying legs are scheduled on Sept. 5 at SM Lanang Premier in Davao and Sept. 18 at SM Baguio.

Any interested clan with five members may sign up at www.smart.com.ph/pages/PhilippineClash2015. Verified clans will compete in a Royal Rumble format, and the top two clans with the most number of trophies gained after six hours of gathering trophies will advance to the finals.

The Philippine Clash 2015 Grand Champion will take home a grand prize of P500,000 in cash. On top of this, each member of the winning team shall receive a brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 phone and Smart Bro Pocket WiFi.
