Hearthstone World Championships SEA – Top 5 “The Grand Tournament” Cards to Watch Out for
The top eight players in all of Southeast Asia (SEA) was determined and the most successful classes was already identified.
There’s only a few days left until the biggest Hearthstone event in the region! Before we feel all the hype and excitement though, let us check the top cards we should expect to show up in the Hearthstone World Championship SEA Finals from the game’s latest expansion, The Grand Tournament (TGT).
Darnassus Aspirant
A two mana-cost minion with 2/3 stats normally seems underwhelming. But with that Battlecry effect, this card can really ramp everything up for a Druid blessed with the right cards in his hand or it being drawn.
Imagine you’re going second and you have two copies of these on your starting hand. If left unchecked by the opponent, you can drop your Azure Drakes or Druid of the Claws on your third turn!
Ram Wrangler
There are currently only two archetypes for the Hunter class, Face or Mid-range. While both of them can be viable choices for tournaments, this card will be more with the mid-range type. With cards like Haunted Creeper, Savannah Highmane and fellow TGT card King’s Elekk, some crazy shenanigans can be provided by the Ram Wrangler. Mysterious Challenger
One of the least successful classes in the recently held Top 40 Playoffs was the Paladin. But you can’t just take them off your pool of decks to compete with. You can run it being mid-range, or you can do it being hyper aggressive using Mysterious Challenger.
Dubbed as “Dr.6” with how he seems “broken”, playing him would instantly play a maximum of five secrets interacting very well with each other once triggered.
If you see him, be sure to ask him questions!
Alexstrasza’s Champion
One might say that Patron Warrior is still at the top. We’re not arguing about that. We’re just saying that Control Warriors can perform too! With a twist of the dragon tribe, Alexstrasza’s Champion is a great early drop for these archetype. This card can provide tempo swings for Garrosh (or Magni) as it can be used to clear minions and ease off early-game pressure.
Twilight Guardian
Aside from the Inspire and Joust mechanics, TGT also brought a lot of cards with syngergy to the Dragon tribe. Here’s one of the most valuable and popular card, Twilight Guardian.
The epic-rarity dragon can serve a lot of purpose. With a deck built around dragons such as the Dragon Priest or Dragon Control Warrior, it can be a wall to your low-cost minions to hinder efficient trading in the early game. It can help you stabilize the board by mid-game if you find yourself in the advantage. And in the late game, you can play Twilight Guardian to survive.
