All sights were at Tokyo, Japan this weekend as Mad Catz hosted a Capcom Pro Tour Premier (CPT) Tournament at the Tokyo Gameshow (TGS) this Sunday. Whoever won the tournament would automatically qualify for the Capcom Cup Tournament this December.

Team YUBIKEN’s (YBK) Dashio and his Seth came out on top as he faced off against Red Bull’s Sagat expert Masato “Bonchan” Takahashi from losers at grand finals.

Prior to this, Dashio had never participated in a CPT tournament this year. He mostly plays at local tournaments and rarely goes out of Japan. For many on the stream watching, this was their first time watching his Seth in action.

FEATURED STORIES

Bonchan on the other hand is a well known competitor. Considered by many as the premier Sagat player, he has numerous accolades under his belt. This includes a second place finish in last year’s Evolution Championship Series and top eight placings in various tournaments. Just recently sponsored by team Red Bull, he definitely had his eyes on securing a spot at Capcom Cup coming into TGS.

The match was intense, with the first set coming down to 2-2 last round. Bonchan would take the final round convincingly and reset the bracket.

The second set started with Dashio taking the first two games, including a perfect round during the first game. Bonchan tried to answer back by taking game three. In the end, Dashio’s set ups would prove too tricky for Bonchan to handle. After a series of ridiculous plays, Dashio took the fourth game to end the set 3 – 1 in his favor.
