A Recap of the Philippine Clash Grand Finals
Last Sunday, September 26, Smart’s much awaited Philippine Clash Grand Finals took place at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall with 10 teams battling out in a five-hour long tournament to be the Grand Champion of the nationwide Clash of Clans Tournament. From 107 teams all over the country, the top 10 teams headed out to Manila for one-final all-out strategy battle! With over a thousand guests cheering on their favorite clan, Smart Communications, truly gave Clashers and fans alike a tournament like no other.
And bringing home the Grand Prize of Php500,000 with the sweet addition of a Galaxy S6 and Smart Bro 4G Pocket Wifi for each winning member was crowd-favorite Pinoy Playhouse earning a whopping 9504 cups! Not only do they bring home this amazing prize pot but along with it comes the distinction of being the first-ever Supercell recognized Clash of Clans tournament. That’s certainly a whole new level of bragging rights they can put on their clan description!
Republica Pinas comes in as the First Runner Up with 9454 cups and a prize money of Php300,000 plus Smart Bro 4G Pocket Wifi for the members while Filipino Clan lands as the Second Runner Up with 9423 cups and a prize money of Php200, 000 and their respective members also taking home their very own Smart Bro 4G Pocket Wifi.
GRAND FINALS HIGHLIGHTS
Initially planned as a face off between Chief Pat and Galadon, the two popular Youtubers instead opted to meet and greet with their loyal CoC fans. Everyone enjoyed exclusive tips on attacking bases as well as a live display of their Clash of Clans attacks. For hardcore Clashers, this was certainly a groundbreaking experience watching their favorite international clashers live!
But let’s not forget the awesome display of Cosplayers that certainly stepped up the game with their super creative rendition of their favorite Clash of Clans characters! Judged by none other than the Queen of Cosplay herself, Alodia Gosiengfiao with Chief Pat and Galadon, the winner Alvin Cenir took home a solid Php70,000 for his amazing Golem rendtion. While the second and third place winners enjoying P20,000 and P10,000 respectively.
With the likes of Chief Pat and Galadon in attendance, it’s not a big surprise that Supercell bigshots Marika Appel and Jonas Collaros were also among the guests to experience this great event first hand! Overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for the game, this only marks the road to more tournaments here in the Philippines!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR CLASH OF CLANS
Though the Philippine Clash Tournament run has officially ended, it certainly isn’t the end of Clash of Clans in the Philippines. On the other hand, it has certainly created an even stronger following among the community with the likes of international CoC stars Chief Pat and Galadon showing their support for the game. With the rise of mobile gaming tournaments and groups such as Philippine Clash of Clans Battleground and Philippine eSports Organization who are actively promoting eSports in the country, Clashers old and new will definitely have something to look forward to.
