The Lowdown: Beyond The Summit’s Smash Summit Invitational And Player Nominations

Beyond The Summit, Dota 2‘s largest commentary studio, announced last week that they would be hosting Super Smash Bros. Melee invitational  at the eponymous BTS House in Los Angeles, California on November 5-8. Featuring 16 top players, 10 invited and 6 voted by the masses, “Smash Summit” is set to have over $12000 in prize money.

If this doesn’t sound familiar, Beyond The Summit hosts the “Summit” series of tournaments which also take place at the BTS House. Unlike regular, crowded tournaments, the “Summit” series focuses on having teams within a home-like environment, giving the audience a more personal view of their favorite players. “Smash Summit” aims to do the same.

The last 6 slots are to be voted on by the public on the official tournament page. As of today, the nominations for the voting stage is ongoing. The top 20 nominees then proceed to the main voting phase wherein 6 of them will be given invitations to the event. Daniel “Root Gaming | ChuDat” Rodriguez , Johnny “S2J” Kim, Alex “Alex19” Ruvalcaba, Roustane “Kage The Warrior” Benzeguir and Mustafa “mYinsanity | Ice” Akcakaya currently lead the pack at positions 1, 2 , 3, 4 and 5 respectively.
