The Megaton: Bayonetta And Fire Emblem’s Corrin Are Coming To Super Smash Bros. For Wii U!
With all the hype surrounding the last ever Super Smash Bros. Special Broadcast, no one dared to expect not one but two unlikely newcomers to the series. Hosted by the series creator Masahiro Sakurai, the broadcast covered all the content coming to the game today, in the form of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII and the Midgar Stage.
Since Cloud was already announced last month, many thought that the broadcast would open up and focus on him alone, with a potential for a newcomer to show up. At around 6AM Philippine Standard Time, Nintendo’s Twitch channel opened up and fans were treated to a reveal of Corrin, the main character of Fire Emblem Fates, set to release next year.
For the uninformed, Nintendo held a ballot that ran from the middle of this year up until October. Based on votes from Asia, the Americas and Europe, the most voted and realistically attainable character would be the next downloadable character. Ranking #1 in Europe and #5 in the Americas, Bayonetta from the eponymous series was chosen by the team to be the final reveal for this installment of the series. Fans have been clamoring for Bayonetta since release but actual hope for her being selected was low due to her M-rated game origins.
Cloud releases later today at an unannounced time. Bayonetta and Corrin release February, 2016. For more updates, one can check out the official website or Nintendo’s twitter account.
