Invasion eSports Wins SEA Slot for Synergy League; Snaps Team Malaysia’s 17-game Win Streak
After a grueling Best-of-3 match against fellow Malaysians and Southeast Asian (SEA) region juggernauts, Invasion eSports bested Team Malaysia after an intense 70-minute deciding game that involved — among all things — a Divine Rapier on Fadil “Kecik Imba” Razif’s Medusa. With the victory, Invasion heads to the playoffs of the Synergy League as the SEA region representative.
Led by Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung, Team Malaysia seemed unstoppable going into the match as they boasted a 17-0 winning streak in competitive matches, one of the highest win rates in 6.82 so far.
With both teams grabbing a game apiece off each other, it was in game three that the match truly turned into a slug fest as the new gold and experience mechanics in the patch came into play.
Invasion started their draft with a Witch Doctor, Tidehunter, Medusa, Magnus and Ogre Magi line-up, determined to have better control of team clashes with their high value ultimates. Meanwhile, Team Malaysia went for stronger individual heroes, with Brewmaster, Razor and Obsidian Destroyer cores supported by Vengeful Spirit and Ancient Apparition.
It became clear that the early game belonged to Invasion as their well-rounded wombo combo lineup did its job. Soon, Invasion hounded Team Malaysia around the map. Before they can put away the game however, Team Malaysia mounted a comeback, securing kills on high value targets and digging Mushi and his squad out of a massive gold and experience difference. A triple kill from Mushi as he was ganked by Invasion resulted in lost map objectives, which eventually snowballed into lost lanes of barracks for the Radiant.
Nearing the 70-minute mark, the former Orange eSports team pushed up against Invasion’s high ground after securing a Roshan kill only to be greeted by Kecik Imba’s Divine Rapier-wielding Medusa to take the fight and soon after, Team Malaysia’s Ancient.
With the win, Invasion eSports secures their spot at the Synergy League Grand Final where they will face teams Vici Gaming, NewBee, HellRaisers and Aftershock Gaming among others.
