Evil Geniuses Eliminate compLexity Gaming, Stay on Top of NA Dota
An interesting Lower Bracket between two top teams from the North American region is under the spotlight for the first match of the day. compLexity Gaming looks to finally dethrone long time NA kings Evil Geniuses. These two teams also see each other very often so this rivalry will spice things up in Shanghai.
Game 1’s draft featured the Earth Spirit for and Ursa for EG while coL picked up a defensive Io and Oracle. Clinton “Fear” Loomis’ Earth Spirit applies the pressure early for EG with constant roaming but coL’s superior sustain makes it difficult for the seasoned veteran. Crucial reversals for Simon “Handsken” Haag’s Io guarantee Fear’s early aggression is as difficult as possible. EG finally get some momentum going with Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s Ursa getting some quick kills but Rasmus “Chessie” Blomdin’s Sven matches him tick for tack. A big Vacuum-Wall from Saahil “Universe” Arora’s Dark Seer into Syed “SumaiL” Hassan’s Queen of Pain Sonic Wave gives EG the first big clash of the game as they wipe the floor with the coL line-up. The game went downhill for coL from there as a snowballing Ursa can get out of hand real quick. coL gets a little bit of momentum in the mid game securing some big kills on Ursa and Queen of Pain. But EG are still in pole position as they easily take coL’s bottom barracks by storm. coL concede Game 1 at 34 minutes.
coL will be fighting for their tournament lives in Game 2. This time coL picked up the Dark Seer not wanting it to fall in to Universe’s hands. EG, on the other hand, picked up the risky Drow Ranger as well as the Vengeful Spirit for the extreme physical damage buffs. coL struggle in the early game with EG taking point with Universe’s Nyx Assassin leading the charge. Arteezy and the rest of EG pick up an early Roshan which completely slipped under coL’s nose. coL has no answers for EG’s deathball as they lose the bottom barracks as early as 14 minutes. coL are forced to call GG at 18 minutes.
EG convincingly swept coL out of Shanghai and continue to affirm their rightful place on top of NA Dota 2.
