Surprises at Day 1 of DotaPit: OG, Secret Fall; Na’Vi, coL Advance
DotaPit Season 4 is in full swing as Day 1 packed shocks and surprises abound. The tournament features eight of the top teams from all around the world competing for a prize pool of $100,000. Fans watching online or live in Split, Croatia were left in shock as favorites were eliminated as early as in the first round.
Team Secret vs Natus Vincere
The bitter reunion between Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and former Na’Vi captain Clement “Puppey” Ivanov was a must-watch. Team Secret recently bagged the Mystic Staff in Shanghai Majors and were supposedly in top shape. Natus Vincere has been struggling recently. Na’Vi surprisingly comes out on top against Team Secret. Na’Vi advance 2-1.
Virtus Pro vs. Complexity Gaming
Complexity is definitely a team on the rise making NA Dota 2 stalwarts proud. On the other hand, Virus Pro had a less than stellar showing in China. In true fashion, coL keeps its momentum going sweeping VP out of Croatia 2-0.
OG vs. MVP.Phoenix
OG had an excellent start in Shanghai at the Group Stages before eventually falling to Fnatic in the Lower Brackets. While MVP.Phoenix drew the love from all parts of the Dota 2 world with its dominant and unorthodox showing in China. The Koreans continue to impress taking out former Frankfurt Majors OG 2-1 to move up.
Evil Geniuses vs. Team Empire
Evil Geniuses were fancied to take the crown in Shanghai but fell well short of expectations with awkward drafting from captain Peter “ppd” Dager while Team Empire was nowhere to be seen in Shanghai. Team Empire however recently bagged their tickets to ESL One Manila so things aren’t that rough for the CIS side. Evil Geniuses outclassed Team Empire 2-1 to move on in DotaPit Season 4.
