Mongolz Upset Signature.Trust; 3 Filipino Teams Proceed to the Playoffs of the SEA Manila Major Qualifier
In a surprise upset, The Mongolz defeat Signature.Trust, 2-0, to knock them out of the 2nd place slot for the playoffs of the SEA Qualifier for the Manila Major.
Earlier in the day, Signature.Trust drew against Execration, placing themselves in a must-win situation against The Mongolz. A 1-1 result against the Mongolian squad would have resulted in a tie-breaker match with Execration for the 2nd seed in the playoffs.
However, The Mongolz came into their game with a plan to knock out the Thailand-based Signature.Trust. In both games, Enkh-Od “SANKE” Nergui, midlaner for The Mongolz, picked Queen of Pain — a disruptive tempo controller — to confound the Signature.Trust offense.
After a grueling 60 minute Game 1 and a bloody Game 2, The Mongolz defeated Signature.Trust, 2-0, knocking their record to 4-4 and allowing Execration to edge them out in points to take the 2nd in Group B.
With the playoff seeds locked, three Filipino teams (TnC, Execration and Mineski) and Malaysian Orange.Taring will battle it out for the SEA qualifier slot at the Manila Major, this June, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
