The Manila Major: Mineski Eliminated, Alliance Advances
For the fourth match of the day at the Manila Major, hometown favorites Mineski went up against Swedish side Alliance in the first round of the lower bracket.
Mineski picks Death Prophet, Nature’s Prophet (NP), Vengeful Spirit, Tusk and Juggernaut for a lineup that can push while at the same time do teamfights, while Alliance gets Bristleback, Keeper of the Light (KotL), Queen of Pain (QoP), Rubick and Beastmaster for a balanced control lineup that can offer an option for the late game.
The Filipino squad gets the first blood after Julius “Julz” De Leon on the Tusk saved Jay “ragingpotato” Qui at mid from a gank by two Alliance heroes. From then on, both sides decided to face each other head-on, with Mineski getting a slight advantage up to the beginning of the midgame when the Swedes decided to turn their gears on.
Alliance tried to bait Mineski towards the Rosh pit during the 35th minute; however, a botched initiation secured Mineski the ensuing fight as well as the Rosh. Once again, the game went back-and-forth; however, the Swedes kept on winning fights until a point that they got the middle barracks and made their core heroes extremely hard to kill.
At the 50th minute, Alliance takes their third Rosh and placed it on the Queen of Pain. They went on to take all the remaining sets of barracks, but Mineski showed that they still had one more fight to do by nearly wiping out the Swedes at the middle of the map.
In the end, a pickoff by S4’s Queen of Pain on Benhur’s NP sealed the game as it allowed the rest of Alliance to push the remaining towers and take the throne.
With this loss, Mineski get $30,000 (~P1,410,000) for finishing last place, while Alliances goes on to the phase of the losers’ bracket in order to keep their Spring Dota 2 Major hopes alive.
