Dota 2 Tournament TI6 Beats Previous Year’s Prize Pool
The International 2016 (TI6) has just become the biggest ever eSports tournament in terms of prize pool after it broke the record set by The International 2015 (TI5) in the previous year.
According to dota2.prizetrac.kr, TI6 surpassed TI5’s prize pool of $18,429,613 around 11pm (GMT) yesterday. As of press time, TI6’s prize pool sits at an almost unbelievable $18,453,314, and still has a lot of potential to grow.
This momentous event for Dota 2, and for all of eSports by extension, coincided with Valve’s release of the long-awaited Immortal Treasure III for the owners of the TI6 Battle Pass. You can read our previous report for a brief background on how TI6’s gargantuan prize pool came to be.
With only about a week left before the tournament officially begins, can TI6’s prize pool reach the coveted $20 million mark?
