IESF 2014 World Championships Blog!
The 6th eSports World Championship comes to Baku, Azerbaijan and the action is just getting started!
For the next five days, eSports competitors from all over the globe will compete in a myriad of events and titles for a grand total prize pool of $100,000! The event is organized by the International eSports Federation (IESF) in its effort to bring eSports to the global stage as a legitimate competitive sport.
Official titles for this year’s competition and their prize payouts include: Dota 2 (Prize Pool: $50,000), StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm (Prize Pool: $10,000), Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft (Prize Pool: $10,000), Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (Prize Pool: $10,000) and Ultra Street Fighter IV (Prize Pool: $10,000).
All competitions in the official titles are open-for-all (both male & female gamers). Additional SC2 and TTT2 competitions will be held for female players only as part of IeSF’s efforts to promote female gaming, each with a prize pool of $5,000.
Further, at the end of the tournament, IeSF will announce the host country for next year’s World Championship!
