DreamHack announces the Overwatch Championship at DreamHack Winter 2016
DreamHack, one of the largest LAN-festivals in the world, will be hosting an eight-team Overwatch tournament with a prize pool of $50,000. DreamHack Winter (DH Winter) will be held on November 24th-27th. The Overwatch tournament will take place onstage in Hall D on November 25th and 26th.
In an announcement posted on the DreamHack website, the Overwatch Championship at DH Winter 2016 will follow the tradition of great DH tournaments; the Overwatch event will have an open qualifier with no invited teams.
Teams will have the opportunity to qualify for the event through online and on-site event qualifiers. Two main qualifiers will be hosted:Europe and North Americas. The online qualification stage for Europe will take place on October 9th-10th, followed shortly thereafter by the North American online qualification stage on October 11th-12th.
A final LAN qualifier for the last four teams will take place at DH Winter 2016 on November 24th. The qualifier will be available to all LAN visitors at the event.
