League of Legends’ Developer Riot Games to Expand Aggressively in Southeast Asia; Philippines Office to Open Soon
With the League of Legends Worlds 2016 tournament raging, it seems that Riot Games is quietly setting the foundation for next year.
According to a report from The Strait Times, Riot Games is looking to expand in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand. Offices are set open in these locations by the end of 2017, each with a lean staff of about 15-20 people.
In the same report by ST, Benjamin Pommeraud, Riot country manager for Singapore and Malaysia, said that the expansion to SEA is motivated by the growing gaming industry in the region. Free-to-play games, such as League of Legends, perform well in the SEA market.
