Esports Lawyer Bryce Blum Made VP of New Esports Talent Agency
Bryce Blum, known in the eSports industry as the Esports Lawyer, founder and managing partner of Interactive Media & Entertainment Law (IME) has been made executive vice president of Catalyst Sports & Media, a new sports agency that will focus on basketball, European football and esports.
Created by veteran sports agents Happy Walters and Josh Swartz, Catalyst Sports & Media will offer agency services to athletes as well as helping companies invest in tech, sports and eSports.
“I am thrilled to be working alongside such sports and media industry powerhouses as Happy, Josh and Brad, and look forward to helping transform the face of the esports world for the betterment of all stakeholders. We are also excited to add other talented, esports industry veterans in the coming months,” Blum said in a press statement.
“The financial opportunities in the burgeoning world of esports are infinite and we believe we at Catalyst are uniquely positioned to take advantage of them,” he added.
As a law practicioner, Blum has represented eSports players and teams in their business dealings in the industry. At Catalyst, Blum says that the agency will also help eSports competitors by representing them competently in the relatively underdeveloped legal jungle of competitive games.
At IME, Blum’s involvement in eSports includes representing eSports betting platform Unikrn. He also represents players and teams in multiple eSports, including former NA LCS team Renegades and its owners Chris Badawi and Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles.
As Catalyst continues to grow its esports business, the company will make key investments and partnerships with up-and-coming leaders in the space. According to their statement, two investments already put in place by Catalyst are Super League Gaming, the first and biggest recreational league where gamers compete in movie theaters worldwide, and GumGum, a leading computer vision company that offers innovative advertising and visual intelligence solutions for brands and publishers.
