Korean Kings of League of Legends Close Out Another Championship
The Kings of Korean League of Legends, SK Telecom 1 (SKT), have swept their way to another championship title after defeating rival Korean Telecom team, KT Rolster (KT), 3-0.
This is the team’s first championship with the new line up that was announced earlier this year with the addition of Yoon “Peanut” Wang-ho and Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon. The team was found to be struggling at the beginning of the Regular Season of the Spring Split only to find composure later on and secure a bye straight into the Finals with a near perfect run.
Their opponent, KT Rolster, secured the third seat in the Playoffs after a strong Regular Season run. They won their spot in the LCK Spring Finals after defeating 2nd seat Samsung Galaxy.
KT showed a very strong early game in their first game against SKT in the finals but was side swiped by the champs after a clash ended in the latter’s favor in the mid-game. SKT, after gaining momentum in their first game, went for a different strategy and opted for a shield composition that put the team’s faith in their ADR, Bae “Bang” Jun-sik, for their second and third game. With this win, SKT continues their winning streak against KT in the perpetual “Telecom Wars”.
With this win, SKT not only won their first championship for 2017, but also locked in their spot in the 2017 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational.
