The Summer Splits of the various LoL leagues around the world are nearing their ends. After that, playoffs begin and the representatives will be locked in for Worlds. After their US tour last year and a trek across Europe the year before, Worlds heads back to Asia for the first time since 2014. Back then, the premier League of Legends tournament hopped across Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea. This year, four Chinese cities will become the venues of the various stages of Worlds 2017.

The Play-In Stage, introduced at this year’s MSI, and the Group Stage will be held at the Wuhan Sports Center Gymnasium in Wuhan, the capital of the Hubei province.

The Guangzhou Gymnasium in Guangzhou will be the venue for the Quarterfinals. Also known as Canton, it is the most populous city in mainland China.

The Semifinals will be played at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, also called the Shanghai Aquatic Sports Center. This was also where the Mid-Season Invitational 2016 took place.

The Beijing National Stadium, or The Bird’s Nest, will be the stage for the Worlds 2017 Grand Finals. Finished in 2007, it was one of the many structures built for the 2008 Summer Olympics. With a maximum holding capacity of 91,000 spectators, it is the largest stadium in China.

Although it will be the first League of Legends event held at the stadium, it won’t be the first esport event. Back in 2016, the National Electronic Arena Beijing Esports Open CS:GO Finals took place between TyLoo, Born of Fire, VG.CyberZen, and B.O.O.T.

The Beijing National Stadium is also set to host the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
