The Action Continues: The International 2019 Group Stage Day 2 Recap
Dota 2’s premier event of the year resumes for the second day of its Group Stages. Couldn’t keep up with the 40 games that were played yesterday? Here’s a recap of what you may have missed:
Expect The Unexpected
The International is no stranger to plays and hero picks that leave us with our jaws hanging. This year doesn’t seem to be any different when OG’s ana picked Io as a position 1 against Ninjas in Pyjamas in their Group B clash. The Io carry worked out better than many would have hoped and even managed an ultra kill in the late stages of the match. OG eventually won both games against NIP which helped them end Day 2 at the top of Group B.
EG Bounce Back
Evil Geniuses didn’t start off their TI campaign in the best fashion after drawing against Na’Vi and losing both of their games against OG and Fnatic on Day 1. The EG we witnessed on the second day of the group stages, however, told a different story. After taking a commanding 2-0 victory against Royal Never Give Up, they followed it up by defeating 2-time major champions Vici Gaming in arguably the most exciting series of the tournament so far. EG will be looking forward to solidifying their spot in the Upper Bracket by maintaining this momentum in their coming matches.
State of SEA
Given their underwhelming DPC season, not a lot of people expected Mineski to perform as well as they did yesterday by beating Chaos Esports Club and drawing with Team Liquid. These results allowed them to leapfrog their SEA counterparts TNC Predator who drew both matches. Mineski now sit a spot above TNC in 3rd place. Fnatic, on the other hand, were unable to capitalize on their Day 1 momentum and ended up losing to Infamous and drawing with Ninjas in Pyjamas. They’re tied with Virtus.pro for the 6th spot in Group B.
