Six Raleigh Major 2019 Brings In ₱75M for North Carolina
In a report by The Esports Observer, the Raleigh Rainbow Six Siege Major held last August generated $1.45M USD or around ₱74.8M PHP for North Carolina.
In collaboration with Visit Raleigh and Big Block, the major drew in 2,600 day-to-day attendees in its three-day run in the Raleigh Convention Center. Of its attendees, around 70% were visitors from neighboring states and countries, serving as a testament to the impact of esports to tourism.
In addition, a thousand job inquiries relating to esports were observed during the weekend with local and international companies (such as HyperX, PayPal, and Pepsi) partnering with Ubisoft for the major. The Six Major Raleigh in total drew in 16M+ views with over 6M hours streamed on Twitch.
Esports has come a long way since its inception and to see the economic impact of a Major in the locale is indicative of the forward-looking future of the industry.
