Are you ready for Dota 2’s Nemesis Assassin Event?
Looks like the next major update for Dota 2 is going to be even more interesting. After the introduction of the new hero, Oracle, and the announcement of Phantom Assassin’s Arcana set, Valve has followed up with the Nemesis Assassin Event.
The story thus far
The event picks off after Oracle had successfully convinced Mortred the Phantom Assassin not to kill him and forging a contract with her instead. In exchange for telling her everything she wishes to know about certain things in her past, Phantom Assassin will kill all of Oracle’s nemeses. The all-knowing hero then arms his newly-hired assassin with the Manifold Paradox, which turns out to be the new in-game Arcana item. You can read the full story here.
How does this work?
There are three conditions for the contract to take effect:
- There must be a Phantom Assassin on any of the teams.
- At least one target hero must be on Phantom Assassin’s opposing team. A full list of target heroes can be found here.
- At least one of the players in the game should own a Manifold Paradox arcana. Taken note that the owner doesn’t have to be the Phantom Assassin player for the contract to be triggered.
As soon as these conditions are met, Phantom Assassin will receive a contract to kill the nemesis hero. The target hero will be shown to all players when the game starts. The rules for winning are fairly simple. Phantom Assassin should kill the nemesis hero before it kills her.
For each day of the event, the number of kills will be compiled, which may cause some heroes to be moved from the list of Oracle’s nemeses to the graveyard. This basically means they’re no longer targets for Phantom Assassin, but they can still be picked in-game.
Of course, what is an event without rewards? The team who has successfully fulfilled or denied a contract and win the game will be awarded a trophy and will be eligible to receive a culster-drop of items triggered by each arcana owner in the match. So the more arcana owners there are in a single match, the higher the chance of getting item drops.
