City-Based Call of Duty League Begins Cross-Continental Tour

Activision Blizzard’s flagship first-person shooter made its return to esports with the kick-off weekend of the Call of Duty League in Minneapolis, Minnesota last January 24 to 26, 2020.

The inaugural CDL features the integration of the home-and-away franchise system with 12 competing teams based in 11 cities in North America and Europe. The CDL will be hosting 13 regular-season events with tournament circuits held by the competing teams.

The 12 organizations joining paid a hefty $25 million each to be a part of the franchise – which is no surprise seeing Call of Duty” Modern Warfare was the best-selling video game of 2019 and had over 100 million people download the free-to-play Call of Duty mobile since its release.

The Call of Duty League will have three tiers of play Pros, Amateurs, and Fan competition all leading up to a championship weekend at the end of the season. Catch all the Call of Duty League action live on YouTube.
