MET Malaysia Veterans Launch IO Esports
The Malaysian Division of MET, formerly known as Mineski Events Team has recently announced it will part ways with its parent company, Mineski Global to form its own independent corporate entity. Kenchi Yap, Chief Executive Officer at IO Esports, said, “The decision to spin-off from Mineski is due to our differences in strategic planning and the direction of the company.”
MET Malaysia is to be rebranded to IO Esports as an esports event organizer but will continue to operate Mineski Infinity cyber-cafes in Malaysia as per a separate franchise agreement. “I would like to thank Mineski for their collaborative efforts for the past 10 years, working together in flourishing the global esports industry. Nonetheless, we have parted ways with Mineski on good terms and will continue to focus on our new direction”, he added. The rebranding is due to strategic planning differences and direction of the company and continues to serve as a premier esports event organizer.
In collaboration with business partners, IO Esports will continue its work as a premier esports event organiser. Soon to unveil a new expansion road map, IO Esports will push forward in its direction of pursuing local and international success under its new banner, with a range of gold standard esports events planned for 2020 and beyond, throughout South-East Asia and globally.
The IO Esports team has delivered many of the largest esports events both regionally and internationally through its years from its previous entity. Under the new brand, its experienced team will continue to offer the highest quality production, broadcast, content and marketing services alongside world-class tournament operations, all under one roof.
In the evolving industry of esports, not just limited to PC or console platforms, mobile gaming has exploded throughout the region, and IO Esports is ready to take on this emerging market immediately.
Recently, IO Esports and MET have concluded the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M1 World Championships held in Axiata Arena Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – a global-scale esports event, limited not only to South-East Asian professional teams but also teams overseas. The live event itself was attended by over 4,000 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang fans from across the globe, alongside over 650,000 fans from all around the world watching live on YouTube Gaming.
