G2 Esports Demolish Fnatic 3-0 to Win 7th LEC Championship
After being humbled earlier in the playoffs, G2 Esports have redeemed themselves with a dominating sweep against long-time rival Fnatic to take home the LEC Spring 2020 Championship.
Fnatic came into the finals with their heads held high, handily taking down the lions that upset G2 Esports at the start of the playoffs. But as their kryptonite, Fnatic, once again, faltered when it mattered against the former champions. With creative ‘juggermaw’ compositions and unrelenting aggression, G2 Esports outmaneuvered Fnatic at every step of the way.
Games 1 and 2 were absolute stomps with Rasmus “Caps” Winther unleashed on Kog’Maw, proving himself as a capable marksman coming from his role swap from mid at the start of the year. In the third game, it was Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle’s key disengages on Janna that completely shut down Fnatic and allowed G2 to wreck havoc and secure the 3-0.
With their series win, G2 Esports becomes seven-time LEC champions and one of the most dominant western teams to ever exist in League of Legends. As dominant as they are, G2 Esports will be coming into the Mid-Season Invitational 2020 hoping to retain their trophy from their championship run last year.
