Talon Esports Upsets Machi to Win Inaugural PCS Spring Split 2020
Talon Esports becomes the first-ever champions of the Pacific Championship Series after taking down Machi Esports 3-2 in the finals of the spring split.
Machi Esports started the series with a decisive win against Talon Esports with a 9,000 gold lead at 33 minutes. With Machi finishing first at the end of the regular season, the signs looked towards Talon getting swept 0-3.
However, Talon’s jungler Kim “River” Dong-woo turned it around with his unstoppable Ekko going 6/1/8 after Game 2. To reach match point, Talon’s Candy had to withstand an early camp on his Galio being 0/4/1 at one point in the early game.
In the final game of the series, Talon and Machi went back and forth to decide the champion of the PCS. Despite losing baron to Machi earlier, Talon was able to steal away dragon to secure Mountain soul and win the last teamfight of the game with the added resistances.
Talon Esports upset Machi Esports as the champions finished under them at third place in the PCS Spring Split 2020. Unfortunately, Talon Esports will not be able to represent Southeast Asia since MSI 2020 has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
