The Seeds are Set: MPL Week 6 Day 2 Recap
The second day of Week 6 of the MPLPH finished relatively quick with three 2-0 victories, as teams anticipated their seedings for playoffs.
One-sided: STI vs Onic PH
The 10th seed STI faced off against 2nd seed Onic in a no-bearings match, but both teams still gave it their all. Both teams brought out unexpected picks like Minsitthar for STI and Hilda for Onic, which made for a fun and action-packed Game 1. Behind strong performances from the whole team, Onic managed to take the 25-16 win, led by OhMyV33NUS’s 4/2/15 Valir. Game 2 was a little more one-sided, with Onic dismantling STI in a 14-2 outing, ending the game in just 9 minutes thanks to a cleanly executed game plan by Onic. Jay’s Selena became Game 2 MVP with a 1/0/7 KDA. When asked about their highly anticipated match against SunSparks tomorrow in a post-game interview, OhMyV33NUS said, “We will do our best to win. We hope we can get the 2-0 to get first seed this season.”
Momentum: ULVL vs SGD Omega
Despite ULVL’s loss yesterday, both ULVL and SGD Omega came off of strong performances from Day 1. ULVL dropped their game against Sunsparks on the back of Chu’s strong individual performance, and SGD Omega with stellar team synergy led by Haze. Although Game 1 started off pretty close, Hadjizy’s Karrie managed to get picks and farm, snowballing to an unstoppable 13/1/3, 43% Damage Share carry performance. He popped off again in Game 2 with an 11/2/8 performance on Lancelot. Paired with Haze on Selena, who dropped 7 kills and 13 assists dying only once in the game, SGD cruised to a 2-0 victory.
Blacklist International vs Bren Esports
A strong start by Blacklist puts them up 7-0 at 11 minutes into the game for a 5k gold lead. However, a fight at the Lord goes awry and Bren takes a 3-for-nothing fight. Thanks to better farm and teamfighting, Bren pulled off the comeback with a teamwipe at the Blacklist base. Bren continue the pressure in Game 2, getting early kills around the map. Ribo’s Selena, Pheww’s Gusion, and KarlTzy’s Granger snowball hard and proved too much for Blacklist, as Bren handily took a 2-0 victory.
