PVP Esports team up with AcadArena for Philippine Campus Qualifier for MLBB
Another major chapter in the Philippines’ Collegiate Esports scene comes this July as PVP Esports, the Singapore-based multi-platform esports arena and AcadArena, the Philippines’ leading campus esports program, bring you the AcadArena National Cup for MLBB.
Serving as the official Philippine qualifier for the PVP Esports Campus Championship, the AcadArena National Cup will kick off qualifiers this July with the top 16 teams battling through August to represent the Philippines in the SEA-wide finale on September 6.
“It’s great that we have a partner like PVP esports who believes in the value of campus esports not just in their home base but throughout Southeast Asia,” Ariane Lim, Co-Founder and Director of Student Programs & Operations, comments. “Students can look forward to more of these events this 2020.”
ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION
Only college, masters, post-graduate or doctoral students are eligible. Students must submit IDs and registration to prove they are either currently enrolled or were enrolled the last academic year. Fresh graduates and senior high school students, however, are not eligible.
Players who qualified in the official legs of the Mobile Legends Pro League (MPL) from S1-S5 may not join the tournament.

QUALIFIER MECHANICS
Official AcadArena Alliance member organizations get to enjoy a bonus qualifier date on July 19. There will be no limit of teams each campus can send to represent.
The Alliance qualifier will only have one (1) slot to the National Cup. For a second chance, the teams must register in their designated Regional Qualifiers. If you’re part of any campus with an Alliance member org, you can contact them to participate.
Regional Qualifiers slots to the National Cup will be determined by the number of registrations per region. A region will have, at least, two (2) slots for the National Cup and a maximum of eight (8).
NATIONAL CUP
The sixteen (16) teams that make it out of the qualifiers will be divided into four groups of four playing a single round-robin format. The top two (2) of each group advances into a single-elimination B03 bracket with the finale played in a B05.
Matches will be played and broadcasted on Sundays of August from August 2 to August 23, 2020. The champion will represent the Philippines on September 6.
All the matches will be played online but the later legs may be played in a secure area with a marshal following social distancing rules depending on the national situation.
The PHP 100,000 prize pool will be less top-heavy and will be distributed through the group stages. The campus community of top placers will also enjoy a sizable campus grant.
