Delivering Expectations: MPL S6 Week 1 Recap
The Mobile Legends Professional League – Philippines returned last Friday for its sixth season. Missed it? Check out what happened in the opening weekend right here.
ONIC PH vs BREN Esports
Two teams who have seen success throughout the MPL, the season opener was bound to bring the hype. Game 1 was very lopsided for the old guard BREN, but Game 2 was a lot closer as Onic hit back with their own haymakers. BREN got the knockout punch in game 3 as both teams traded blows in two close games.
Blu Fire vs Nexplay Solid
Blu Fire came prepared with unconventional picks to try to throw off their adversaries. However, NXP proved that they deserved to be in the big stage with a dominating 2-0 performance. Fans came to watch and support as a peak 248k tuned in, eclipsing last season’s Grand Finals high of 202k.
Blacklist International vs Nexplay Solid
Well-prepared drafts and clean execution helped Blacklist overcome and shut down the boys of Nexplay Solid and their momentum to start their season 2-0.
BSB vs Cignal Ultra
BSB struck first but Cignal Ultra, fresh from the qualifiers looking to avenge themselves after their Season 4 exit, got the last laugh as they completed the 2-1 comeback.
Execration vs Aura PH
The reigning, defending, back-to-back MPL champions and fan-favorites Execration put on a show, with the thrilling 2-1 victory going over to Aura.
Blacklist International vs Omega PH Esports
In Sunday’s first game, drafting was the name of the game. Omega PH also played spoiler in their first game of the season as they keep the Blacklist crew from having a 2-0 weekend by completing the reverse sweep.
ONIC PH vs Blu Fire
Despite Blu Fire wowing the fans and the casters with a commanding Game 1 upset, ONIC were able to rally back and get the 2-0 victory thanks to solid teamwork and stellar individual performances.
Aura PH vs BSB
Aura showed why they were the best in the business by fending off BSB’s advances and getting the 2-1 victory.
