MAD Lions End Schalke Miracle Run To Qualify for Worlds
MAD Lions end Schalke 04’s miracle run 3-1 and take the League of Legends European Championship’s last ticket to Worlds 2020.
Despite losing the first game of the series, MAD Lions held it together and kept their aggressive skirmish-heavy playstyle against Schalke 04 Esports. With series MVP Zhiqiang “Shadow” Zhao on Lee Sin and Lilia, MAD Lions were able to dictate the pace of the matches and the rest of the series.
On the back of support Norman “Kaiser” Kaiser’s playmaking, MAD Lions were able to put out Schalke’s win streak and qualify for Worlds after winning the series.
Schalke’s miracle run started after a poor start in the Summer split going 1-8 in the first half. Schalke then went on to win seven out of the nine remaining games they had to barely qualify for playoffs.
Despite failing to reach Worlds 2020, many will remember Schalke 04’s miracle run to almost make it to the international stage.
