Undefeated No More
The very first match of Week 6 saw Omega PH with the 2-0 upset on top dogs Bren Esports. Previously undefeated, Omega broke their streak and proved that they have what it takes to go up against the best in the league. Omega are on a streak of their own, winning their last five games (BSB, Nexplay, Blu Fire, Bren, Cignal), all of which were 2-0 outings.
When asked about their team’s strategy moving forward with the new meta, this is what Omega’s Support Heath had to say:
“Samin po back to basic padin kame like pinag aaralan namin yung kalaban like mga prio and kung pano sila ishutdown. Pero meron din naman po kameng mga bagong strategies na naka depende padin sa magiging kalaban namin.” (We’re sticking with the basics; we study our opponents, their priorities, and how we can shut them down. But we also have new strategies that will depend on who we’re facing.)
Of the remaining teams that they will be facing, Heath mentioned that they are most looking forward to facing Onic in their rematch in Week 7, as they look to avenge their 2-1 loss against Onic back in Week 3. “Onic. Dahil gusto namin silang bawian,” (Onic. We want to get back at them.) he said.
Bouncing Back
For Bren, it was business as usual after their loss. Although the team’s coach Ducky admitted that the team had a little trouble figuring out what the team wanted to do for the new patch, they quickly found their footing once more. “I was honestly expecting us to play fairly bad. When this patch dropped yesterday, we were lost trying to find what we wanted to achieve with the mechanic changes,” he said in an interview with Esports INQ.
In their second game of Week 6, an anticipated matchup against Nexplay Solid went smoothly in the favor of Bren, Ribo’s aggressive X.Borg gameplay netted him an MVP 3/0/12 performance in Game 1, alongside the solid damage output from Karltzy’s Lancelot, and the whole team’s superior objective control. In Game 2, Bren accelerated even more. winning in only 12:58. Once again, Karltzy dominated with a 7/0/5 Lancelot, and coupled with Pheww’s 3/1/10 Valir, it was too much for NXP who only managed to pick up 5 kills against Bren’s 17.
