Worlds 2020: Damwon Hope to Reclaim Region’s Crown After Getting Revenge Against G2 Esports
Damwon Gaming overcome their demons and take down G2 Esports 3-1 in the Worlds 2020 Semifinals.
After falling to the European superteam in last year’s quarterfinals, Damwon Gaming gets their revenge and qualify for the Grand Finals of Worlds 2020. Despite faltering in Game 2, Damwon
In Game 1, Damwon started the series with a dominant showing putting G2 Esports at an early deficit. Damwon Gaming secured an early Infernal soul and was able to close out the game by the 26-minute mark. G2 were able to pull it back in Game 2 with their skirmish-heavy style working in their favor; however, Damwon put G2 down across all fronts for the rest of the series.
In Games 3 and 4, Damwon’s jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu lead his squad to victory by taking early advantages for the team. Across the games, Rasmus “Caps” Winther couldn’t pull off his roam-centric playstyle to carry G2 past the semis. Despite reaching Finals for two years in a row, the Danish mid laner’s Worlds run gets cut short against Damwon.
Having gotten past their rivals, Damwon Gaming is the League of Legends Champions Korea’s (LCK) last hope at the world championship and hope to reclaim Summoner’s Cup for their region.
