PH Students to Face Top Asian Schools in LoL, HS, PUBG at IEF 2020 Korea
Filipino students from Luzon and Mindanao will be competing in League of Legends, Hearthstone, and PUBG in the International E-sports Festival 2020 Korea this November 28-29, 2020.
Filipino representatives from the University of Santo Tomas, University of Mindanao, and Core Jesu College will be competing in Hearthstone, League of Legends, and PUBG for a combined prize pool of around $41,000. The Philippine teams will be going head-to-head with teams from Korea, China, Vietnam, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand in IEF 2020.
Hearthstone: Enrico Lim, Teletigers of the University of Santo Tomas
Enrico Lim is coming into IEF 2020 as a three-peat collegiate champion in AcadArena. Year after year, Enrico has shown his dominance in Hearthstone with his calculated play and formidable game sense. In the National Campus Open Finals against Holy Angel University’s Zells, Enrico never hesitated and called it clutch to win the series 2-1 with his back against the wall. Expect Enrico to put up a worthy fight in IEF 2020 with his veteran experience on the board.
League of Legends: Teletigers of the University of Santo Tomas
Meanwhile, the Teletigers need no introduction in the collegiate League of Legends scene. Having dominated AcadArena across splits, the veteran squad comes in with up-and-coming rookie Tenebria in the bottom lane. In the past, Cresho, Dane, Maykel, and Pao have already competed in the 2018 and 2019 IEF. This time, the resilient Teletigers will be looking to go even further than their previous runs and hope to secure a trophy for the Philippines.
PUBG: University of Mindanao and Cor Jesu College
Coming in from down under, the University of Mindanao and Cor Jesu College will be representing Mindanao in IEF’s first-ever inclusion of PUBG. Mindanao has been known to produce competent PUBG squads such as DK Esports which won the World eSports Challenge last October. For these teams then, it is their opportunity to put the Philippines on the map of collegiate PUBG.
IEF 2020 Korea will be holding its Group Stage for League of Legends, Hearthstone, and PUBG in Day 1. The playoffs for the respective games will follow on Day 2 on November 29, 2020.
