After what feels like forever, Pokémon has officially announced the coming of the long-awaited remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl coming in late 2021.

The classic remakes are ports of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl from the Nintendo DS for the Nintendo Switch. The news was announced in the late Pokémon Direct.

Diamond and Pearl was released a decade and a half ago in 2006 with the starters Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig. According to the announcement, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be faithful remakes of the original releases.

Furthermore, the Pokémon company announced that they are planning to release the open-world Action RPG, Pokémon Legends: Arceus in early 2022. The incoming open-world title is set in a “long-gone era” in the region of Sinnoh.

In Arceus, you’ll pick between starters Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott. The game will be a first for the franchise in tackling the old-age formula in a novel light. The game is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch early next year.
