Yes, you can play Dota 2 on the Steam Deck
Valve made waves when they entered the handheld gaming console scene earlier this month by revealing the Steam Deck, which is set for release as early as December 2021.
But can you play Dota 2 on it?
Initial reports claimed the device could run any game in your Steam Library, and since it’s basically a portable PC, we can count on the Steam Deck to have the hardware to do so.
If you’re still having doubts: yes, you can play Dota 2 on the Steam Deck. Valve president and co-founder Gabe Newell, in an interview with IGN, revealed that he does play the game on the console.
Given that Dota 2 is a complex game requiring a substantial amount of button-pressing, it will be interesting to see how controls are mapped out on the Steam Deck, and how customizable they are.
If you get your hands on the Steam Deck and realize you can’t comfortably play the likes of Invoker, Meepo, or Chen on the device, you can always plug in a keyboard and a mouse to play the old-fashioned way.
TL;DR: the Steam Deck can run Dota 2. But can it run Crysis?
