Groovy developer says farewell to users
Google might’ve killed one of the best music bots in Discord.
Google and YouTube have recently started tracking Discord bots such as Groovy, and with this Google has issued a cease-and-desist order to the creators of the bot.
According to Google, it took action against Groovy for violating its terms of service. The company noted that it would like to work with developers to resolve these issues.
Groovy is widely installed on over 16 million Discord servers and is known for allowing discord users to play music from YouTube videos and even on some other popular websites like Spotify on Discord.
This morning Groovy developer Nik Ammerlaan posted that Groovy will end its service on August 30th, 2021, and premium users who paid for Groovy’s services will receive refunds over the next few weeks.
Ammerlaan also added, “I want to thank each and every one of you for using Groovy. You all had a part in shaping it into what it is today. I hope you all have a wonderful day and remember: stay groovy.”.
