MPL-esque viewership attained by CODM in PH Championship’s FTSM vs OMG matchup
Popular mobile first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Mobile had its pro scene reach its highest peak concurrent viewership last night when Fantasma (FTSM) took on Smart Omega (OMG) on the first day of the CODM Philippines’ Championship playoffs.
The matchup had a peak concurrent viewers of 71.7k viewers on Garena Call of Duty: Mobile’s stream on Facebook, smashing every single peak viewership record it achieved in its almost two-year existence.
The game pitted the two most popular CODM teams in the country with the highest stakes in the playoffs dwarfed over its average concurrent viewers per stream, hovering only at only 8-10k viewers per game.
It was a welcome sight for fans and players alike as the game continues to build its rapport around the Philippine Esports scene. It is already a given that the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League – Philippines (MPL-Philippines) has the highest average viewership of all the esports titles in the country, garnering around 40-60k concurrent viewers per stream.
CODM, which was produced by Activision and published by Garena exclusively for Southeast Asian countries, certainly would like to emulate this number of viewers on a consistent basis if it hopes to challenge Mobile Legends and MPL on viewership in the country. Gaining this achievement was just the beginning of the game’s future moving forward.
