Using Axl Low in the grand finals, Nas went on a relatively unstoppable run against Arturesu’s May, only dropping one round on each of the grand finals set.
When asked how he felt after winning the tournament, Nas told us that he felt unsatisfied.
“[Ayos] lang but not satisfied. [Gusto] ko po maging world champ, to represent [the Philippines], to become a legend [in the FGC scene],” Nas revealed in our post-tournament interview.
He also revealed that he once went on a hiatus on competing due to financial hardships and that the fighting game genre became the esports genre of his choice.
“Ngayon pa lang po ulit ako bumalik sa esports. Simula bata po ko hindi ako nabigyan ng pagkakataon. Working student po ako [dati]. Ngayon lang po stable ang income and business [ko]. Ngayon lang din ako pinayagan ng misis ko maglaro ulit. Way back 2018 yung 1st pagkabalik ko with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Tekken, and Soul Calibur.”
With a total prize pool of Php 2,000, Nas was able to take home Php 1,200 while Arturesu received Php 500. Meanwhile, third-placer Gilgy took home Php 300.
