Meet the MGA VALORANT University Championship Top 4
MSI Gaming Arena partners with AcadArena to bring the first VALORANT University Championship to the Philippines. Battling it out in the playoffs are our favorite collegiate esports teams for their cut of the Php 200,000.00 prize pool, so let’s get to know our top 4.
LPE Sparrows
Coming from Lyceum of the Philippines University – Manila are the LPE Sparrows, whose calculated aggression gained them a 2-0 win in their Quarterfinal series against Holy Angel University’s UOK. Don’t let the score fool you though, this was a close matchup but the Sparrows pulled ahead with both maps ending with a 13-9 scoreline.
Viridis Arcus
Facing the LPE Sparrows is Viridis Arcus from De La Salle University. VA put up a clinic on their Quarterfinal matchup against MTE Excalibur from Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology. Nothing less to be expected from a team sporting Xavier “Xavi8k” Juan, who is no stranger to the professional VALORANT scene. Xavi8k was taken under the wing of BREN Esports just last month, as part of rebuilding their VALORANT roster. The rest of the team is nothing to scoff at, though. Viridis Arcus’ creative executes will leave their opponents scratching their heads.
LG Terra
On the other side of the bracket is LG Terra hailing from Ateneo De Manila University. Always being in the right place at the right time earned them a clean sweep against Far Eastern University – Manila’s Tams FX. Count on LG Terra to out-aim, out-position, and outplay their enemies with surgical precision and crazy timing.
Teletigers Sol
Going up against LG Terra is University of Santo Tomas’ Teletigers Sol. Taking another leg off of Far Eastern University, Teletigers Sol claimed their Semis spot after clinching victory against FEU Alabang’s Apex Tamaraws in the Quarterfinals’ only 3-map series. Although they dropped the second map, it was a treat to see more of the Teletigers. They will fight you anywhere anytime, and they will win.
Both the Semifinals and Battle for 3rd Place are Best-of-3. Semifinals start Friday, December 3, while Battle for 3rd Place (Bo3) and the Grand Finals (Bo5) will both take place this Saturday, December 4. Matches will be streamed on the official AcadArenaPH Twitch channel, and by MSI Gaming on Facebook and YouTube.
