Tribe Gaming officially clinched the first Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship on Monday, December 6 on Day 2 of the tournament’s Western Final after defeating ARP Gaming in the Grand Finals 3-1.

Led by Filipinos Carl “Image” Butalid (coach) and Kent “Banned” Nerves (player), the mobile gaming organization based in Austin, Texas steamrolled through the entire playoffs without losing a single series. They first won 3-1 against Stamina Esports of Europe in the semis before beating ARP twice 3-1, both in the upper bracket finals and the grand finals in an all-North American matchup.

Image, Banned and Tribe notably dominated the entire competition itself by also going undefeated in the eliminations itself, finishing with a 5-0 record with a 15-1 map win-loss record to finish as the number one seed in Group B heading into the playoffs. They beat the likes of Natus Vincere (NaVi), Europe’s CODM Champion, and New York Subliners Mayhem (NYSLM).

To top it all off, Banned was awarded the Sony Xperia MVP for his efforts in the playoffs and the grand finals after having the top 3 K/D/A ratio amongst all the players that competed.

With the win, Tribe Gaming takes home 300,000 USD (equivalent to around 15 million pesos) which is the lion’s share of the 1,000,000 USD prize pool.
