FEATURED STORIES

Blacklist International Ultimate and Smart Omega come into Garena Masters as the favorites to win it all. The 1A and 1B when it comes to CODM competition in the Philippines, the Kings of the World and the Kings of Garena respectively received an automatic invite to the tournament. These 2 teams have got it all as their accolades speak for themselves, with Blacklist being the champions of the world and Omega being the people’s champion.

Blacklist International Ultimate team roster: John Benedict “Jaben” Julio (Captain), Railey “Yobabs” Abrenica, Martin “Tin” Yap, Neil “Flex” Perez, Aj “Eiji” Agbing, Gian “Yato” Socao, Averson “Skerd” Salaya

Blacklist will be expected to bring flair into the competition as they will sport their original lineup from back in PH Champs with Yobabs and Yato, along with their retention of the services of world championship MVP Skerd. The team aims to add the Masters trophy to their collection after bagging the CODM PH Invitational championship and Axe Genesis CODM tournament championship over the past two months.

Smart Omega team roster: John Clarence “Jayzee” Rivera (Captain), Benjamin “CRUSH” Trinidad Jr., Kennedy “IDRA” Mondoy, Kevs “Kevs” Baguio, Jerrold “Woopiiee” Regay, John Kenneth “KenDy” Pimentel and Bruce “Dev1ce” Cruz (coach)

Omega, on the other hand, will parade in newly acquired slayer Kevs to bring in more firepower to a team that already has the most potent offensive aggression in the game. The team aims to bounce back from recent letdowns and to rebuild their lost glory.

Albeit some issues wherein fans and player alike questioned their will to win as well as them regressing and somewhat being on the tail end of their illustrious careers, they ought to prove they still got so much left in the tank. And that is to play for their ultimate goal: to have a spot in the world championship on a LAN setup and travel overseas.

QUALIFIED TEAMS

C8 Legacy

C8 Legacy team roster: Carl “HiTX” Adranida (Captain), Jann “Seven” Remus, Nico “Freezy” Dy, Justin “Justin” Adranida, Andrei “Drei” Chong, Edmark “Mark” Bermio

Dubbed as potential giant slayers, C8 Legacy defied odds and cemented their place as one of the best teams in the Philippines by taking down high-profile teams in Tyrant Esports and VVV Esports in convincing fashion. The team also defeated former PH Champion NV Anarchy with newly added star player Jerico “iPao” Gurtiza. To top it all off, C8 Legacy defeated their brothers over at C8 United as well as rivals Aguila Esports to place first in the recently concluded PH Qualifiers. This team is determined and is looking to make a splash in the tournament.

Aguila Esports

Aguila Esports team roster: Miguel “Yuki” Gutierrez, Matthew “Captain” Labrador (Captain), Jayr “Jarpz” Otarra, Seb “Zunex” Victoria, Mikki “Mikki” Chua, Kyle “Shadow” Ferro, Bryan “Oops” Bautista

Fresh off winning CODM Ways of War (a Garena-hosted tournament) in November 2021 and again in January 2022, Aguila Esports proved that they can hang with the big and tough teams with impressive victories over teams at Tyrant and VVV just like C8 Legacy. They also created themselves a virtual rivalry with the boys from C8 as they meet in the finals of almost all minor tournaments they compete in together. The team which was once called Sovereign Reborn is looking for more and on a good day have a good shot of taking down even tournament favorites.

C8 United

C8 United team roster: Arghie “iXieFy” De La Peña (Captain), Terence Troy “Twoi” Usi, Ronn “Ronn” Cervantes, Keith “Sage” Dela Cruz, Reese “Rizz” Cruz, Kyle “Fluffy” Navarro

The other half of C8’s two-headed monster, C8 United has also started to make a name for themselves by beating teams like Ultimate Divinus, fellow C8 team Pro, Tyrant Finesse, and brewing rivalry with Aguila Esports on their way to finishing 3rd place in the PH Qualifiers. The team also has been winning in the minor scene along with Legacy and Aguila, making them one of the rising teams in the Philippines. These have been recognized by fans and players alike and should be not taken lightly at all.

M420 Lowkings

M420 Lowkings team roster: Patrick John “Peejay” Sagudo, Juan Karlo “kLö” Morales, Johnkelly “Yop1” Manalang (Captain), Rafael Lorenzo “Raf” Mendoza, Vince Lemuel “Luffy” Laganse, Ragel Dane “Bulalo” Bulaun, Mark Alexis “Olea” Olea (Coach)

Perhaps considered the “dark horse” of the tournament, M420 Lowkings have made a lot of noise in the minor league side of things, winning an incredible 38 championships over the past 7 months. The team also recently recruited Raf and Luffy to supplant the firepower to their lost members, and also added former PDR coach Mark Alexis Olea to help them strategize their games. Despite the many challenges, the Lowkings withstood them while having the same vision of success together and they approach the Garena Masters with a “championship or nothing” mentality.

Tyrant Finesse

Tyrant Finesse team roster: John “Cream” Refulgente (Captain), Angelo “Gelo” Moldez, Jun Miguel “ELDøS” Tolentino, Daniel Joie “Basic” Gacutan, Juan Miguel Rafael “Goyong” Hernaez, Neo “Neo” Villegas

The aforementioned and often celebrated Tyrant Esports team may not have made it through this far, but their allies over at Finesse are in it to win it to bring glory to all of Tyrant. Though the path they went through to be where they are now was not that easy as they made a couple of switches in clans, from VVV to Tyrant, the team stuck together like glue and trusted each other’s capabilities. Now qualified for Masters, Tyrant Finesse aims to surprise teams on the heels of their ongoing momentum and stride.

VVV Esports

VVV Esports team roster: Louis Paolo “Jeon” Bacolod (Captain), Christopher “Mac” Macaranas, Neil Isaac “F1ex” Perez, Ken “Kensh1” Ortiz, Kenneth “Tamayo” Tamayo, Russel “HxS” Gonzales

A team that needs no introductions, VVV Esports has come a long way. The team is now back in the game’s biggest stage as they are one year removed from playing in it since placing 1st runner up against NU Anarchy last February 2021. Still led by captain Jeon along with mainstays Mac, Tamayo, and HxS, VVV has added back world champions and former VVV players F1ex and Kensh1 to help their cause. As they course through their journey in masters, the team aims to redeem themselves from last year’s downfall and claim their much-coveted championship title.

Watch the CODM Garena Masters group stages live on Garena CODM’s Facebook page and YouTube Channel respectively starting Friday, February 11. Other playdates include February 14, 16, 18, 20, 21 23, and 25 accordingly.
