“Of course, [yung Gilas] ang mga ‘lodi’ natin sa basketball, we wanted to be like them, we wanted to be as big as them. ‘Pag sinabi natin Sibol, Philippine team ‘yon. ‘Pag sinabi natin Sibol, magaling. ‘Pag sinabing Sibol, masipag. ‘Yan ang pangarap ng PESO and, of course, ‘yun ang pangarap na gusto nating i-push sa campaign na ito (Of course, the Gilas basketball team were our idols in basketball, we wanted to be like them, we wanted to be as big as them. Whenever we say Sibol, it’s a Philippine team. Whenever we say Sibol, they’re good. Whenever we say Sibol, they’re hardworking. That is PESO’s dream and, of course, that is the dream we want to push in this campaign.) ,” PESO interim executive director Marlon “Lon” Marcelo stated.

In the same press conference, they also unveiled the jersey kits for Sibol. Designed by Dani Rogacion, founder and lead designer of Overdrive Esports, the jersey incorporated local textile designs which also acted as a representation of unity.

“We want to be reminded of how united we are in gaming, so to visualize that, we wanted to try to incorporate different textiles to this artwork,” Rogacion revealed.

The 2022 SEA Games will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam from May 13 – 22, 2022. For more information on Sibol, you can check their official Facebook page here.
