AcadArena’s collegiate esports league returns tomorrow with a brand new title: the Alliance Games (A-Games). Dubbed by the community as the UAAP/NCAA of esports, 57 college teams across the country will be competing for a total of PHP 500,000 prize pool and scholarship opportunities for top-performing teams in 5 game titles — VALORANT, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM), League of Legends (LoL), and League of Legends: Wild Rift (WR).

With that said, the A-Games have countless storylines that will ignite the campus esports spirit in you. Here’s what you can expect from the Alliance Games.

VALORANT

Xavier “Xavi8k” Juan and his gang at DLSU’s Viridis Arcus already managed to grab the elusive three-peat championship and are back looking for more. Will this season be their 4th consecutive title or will they finally fall at the hands of their fated rivals, ADMU’s Loyola Gaming (LG) Terra?

FEATURED STORIES

  • The current VALORANT champions of AcadArena, the Xavi8k-led Viridis Arcus squad is looking for their fourth consecutive trophy with 2 new additions in Aaron “Fission” Sablay and Derrick “Realist” Ong.
  • The eternal runner-ups (for now), ADMU’s LG Terra proved themselves capable of winning as they took the MSI Gaming Arena championship last year and are keen on finally taking the AcadArena trophy away from VA.
  • The team with the most pro-level talent, FIT is taking on this season without one of their brightest stars, Ian “Worship” Ga.
  • USC Warrior’s Arena is back with both superstars in Keith “FireSaiyajiN” Madarang and Cyle “beats” Pontilar and has set their eyes to get back into the playoffs picture.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

FAITH Colleges Esports Club Bravehearts has always been the dominant force in the National Campus Open having won two championships. However, they can’t rest easy as teams like OLFU Esports, San Agustin Golden Eagle Esports (SAGE) Veritas, and Teletigers Esports Club Chaos are hot on their trail to become this season’s MLBB Champions.

Teams to watch out for:

  • FAITH Colleges Esports Club Bravehearts have been two-time champions but were overthrown by OLFU Esports in the last season. They’re now back for vengeance as they look forward to reclaiming what’s supposedly theirs: the title of Kings of AcadArena’s MLBB competitions.
  • Despite winning NCO and PVP Campus Championships respectively, many still cast their doubts on OLFU Pirates and they’re ready to prove their skeptics wrong once more.
  • The Teletigers Chaos has been lurking around, looking for the perfect chance to finally secure an AcadArena MLBB championship. With their recent MLBB Aces win, they will aim to pounce on unsuspecting opponents to snatch this season’s championship.
  • SAGE Veritas is located at the heart of MOBA gaming in the Philippines. With Ilonggo blood circulating on their veins, they will take their talents to the national stage once more and try to secure an MLBB championship.

Call of Duty: Mobile

Unfortunately absent for this season, DLSL Ignis has vacated their seats as AcadArena’s Kings of CODM. As such, multiple teams, such as Viridis Arcus, SAGE Ultimate, Mapua Gaming Society (MGS) Ares, and FIT Dasig, are ready to get this chance to become the next AcadArena CODM champions.

Teams to watch out for:

  • Always the crowd favorite, Viridis Arcus delivers their trademark archer spirit as they bring their FPS dominance to CODM as well.
  • Formerly known as JM and Friends, SAGE Ultimate is ready to redeem themselves in CODM and is ready to shut down any team that comes in their way.
  • MGS Ares and FIT Dasig both have CODM Aces titles under their names. Will they be able to translate those dubs into an into A-Games championship?

League of Legends

AcadArena’s League of Legends tournaments has always been a breeding ground for notable pros, some of which have represented the Philippines on the international stage. Some of the notable alumni include Jan “Cresho” Edward Hortizuela and Ren “Kanji” Motomitsu who have played in the Pacific Championship Series under the banner of Liyab Esports Will this season shine light on more future pros?

Teams to watch out for:

  • UST’s Teletigers have won the most local collegiate championships and represented the Philippines on the international stage when it comes to collegiate tournaments. Will they bring back their golden age this season?
  • Retaining their roster from the last split, LG Hydra is willing to sacrifice blood, sweat, and tears yet again as they set their sights on a possible second straight championship title.
  • DLSU’s Asian Baby Boys have conquered the rift before. As such, they are back and ready to clash against anyone who stands in their way.
  • PUP’s Ypsilos got a record of 2-3 during the International Esports Festival last year. Having had a taste for international competition, they won’t be easily taken down on the rift.
  • The MGS Mages have had an impressive run on the recent SIBOL qualifiers. With that said, we can only expect they got better from that experience.

League of Legends: Wild Rift

Holy Angel University’s (HAU) Valiant Esports has always been the gargantuan force in WR ever since AcadArena included the game in their featured titles. However, they can’t slack off as competition has always been tight across the country.

Teams to watch out for:

  • As the poster child for campus esports spirit, HAU’s Valiant Esports are looking for their third consecutive WR championship and are confident that they will eventually get it.
  • Eager to get their revenge against HAU, Pylon Cerberus may have lost Titchol Ann “Aggressive” Fernandez as she graduated but Carl Diether Ther” Lobarbio is ready to take over and bring home the bacon.
  • West Visayas State University’s West Esports carries the burden to represent the Visayas region. However, it has never been a problem for them as Iloilo has always been a powerhouse when it comes to LoL and WR.

AcadArena’s Alliance Games begins on April 23. Major Events will be broadcasted on Saturdays and Sundays starting April 23 while Minor Events will take up broadcast spots on Friday from June 17 to July 24.
