Tekken Pro AK playing ML? Acadarena Alliance Games Week 1 Recap
The start of the Alliance Games for VALORANT, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), and Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM) last weekend featured champions falling to their knees, newcomers making a name for themselves, crowd favorites living up to the hype, and a professional Tekken player competing in Mobile Legends.
VALORANT
The first scheduled on-stream series of the season saw FEU’s Tams FX pick up a win by default as their opponents, NEU’s Project Paradigm, lacked one player. Nevertheless, the streamed matches officially started with West Visayas State University’s West Esports Organization versus Pasig Catholic College’s PCC STEM Council, which ended 13-9 in favor of the Ilonggos.
The day also featured an upset victory by TUPT’s Grayhawks Esports despite their opponents, Xavier University’s Exceed Crusaders, finishing top 4 in the previous season of the University Alliance Cup’s Division B.
Dodj “Gadoerzz” Gutierrez, who formerly played for Oasis Gaming, also returned this season to represent DLSL’s Ignis. Unfortunately, they lost against USA’s San Augustin Golden Eagles in a grand finals-caliber match that went to two overtimes.
Several instant crowd favorites also popped up on the first day of the play-ins:
- Despite losing their match, BULSU’s Jefferson “Penetrator” San Jose captured everyone’s imagination as he entered sites with absolute disregard for the enemy team.
- Charles Stephen “Fero” Saba has been dubbed as the Japanese man as his Riot ID featured the Japanese characters “壁の花” (which translates to wallflower).
Meanwhile, the rest of the featured matches ended this way:
- UPD Oblation Esports stole the game away from BULSU Golden Gears with a score of 13-9 in favor of the iskolars ng bayan.
- LPE Sparrow flew over Olympus as they defeated UE Zeus 13-5.
- IAC’s Elix Hydra swiftly finished Adamson University’s Guild of Animation Makers and Esports – AdU GAME 13-3.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
The first day of the MLBB play-ins only featured three best-of-3 matches on stream but the action was far from lacking.
For the first match, HAU’s Valiant Esports Club showcased their renowned MOBA dominance against FEU’s Tams FX Zeus with a clean 2-0 sweep. Valiant Esports obliterated Tams FX Zeus in Game 1 as they carried a 20-kill lead and intact turrets until it ended.
Meanwhile, OLFU Esports showed CSB Romançon Gaming Astra why they have an NCO and PVP Campus championship title under their belt. The series finished 2-0 in favor of OLFU with both games following the same script: a tightly-contested early game that sees OLFU pull ahead in the late game.
Lastly, UE Zenith Esports won in an upset 2-0 victory against the two-time champions FAITH Colleges Bravehearts.
Here are some of the notable players that shined throughout the broadcasted games:
- True to his namesake, HAU Valiant’s Justine “Eros” Bengco copied Cupid’s excellent marksmanship with his accuracy on Selena.
- Tekken prodigy Alexandre “AK” Laverez switched games and accompanied CSB Romançon Gaming Astra’s MLBB squad.
- OLFU’s Lance Rylie “Lansii” Aquino went ballistic on their match against Romançon as he got a flawless 8/0/11 KDA in Game 1.
Call of Duty: Mobile
Like the MLBB play-ins, the CODM play-ins also featured three best-of-3 matches on the live stream.
