Three Persona Games Will Finally Be Playable on Modern Platforms
Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal are all headed to the Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox after an announcement in yesterday’s Nintendo Direct Mini.

Three widely popular Persona games will become available for all modern platforms beginning with Persona 5 Royal, coming October 21, 2022. The long-awaited confirmation for a Nintendo Switch port for these games came shortly after the news that the games will also come to Xbox and PC.

The JRPG series initially began as a spin-off of developer and publisher ATLUS’ bigger franchise Megami Tensei. It started from Revelations: Persona, first released in 1996, and has Persona 5 Royal as its latest main game release in 2019. Despite only having 5 main releases, the series has received multiple “enhanced” versions, remakes, and spin-offs. Persona 5 recently received its hack-and-slash spin-off game titled Persona 5 Strikers in 2020. Strikers released for PC and Nintendo Switch, so this isn’t the series’ first sortie onto the handheld.

Each of the three games set to be ported onto modern platforms are the aforementioned enhanced versions of the base game. Additional content, such as additional story arcs and characters, were added to these versions.
Persona 5 Royal releases for PC on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 21, 2022. Royal is already playable on the PlayStation 4 and 5.
Persona 4 Golden releases for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in 2023. Golden is already playable on the PlayStation Vita and PC on Steam.
