AcadArena Alliance Games CODM Playoffs Day 3: PUP upsets ADMU, will go to CONQuest 2022
Polytechnic University of the Philippines’s (PUP) Pylon Phantoms secured the last slot in CONQuest 2022 for AcadArena’s Alliance Games (CODM) after upsetting Ateneo De Manila University’s (ADMU) LG Altair last weekend.

The team composing of Diosdado “Mael” Galvez IV, Carl “Nirvana” Dy, Phoebe “Pibs” De Leon, Fritzie “Marstella” Mamuyac, Jerzen “Aeschy” Espiritu, Christopher John “Seyjey” Castillo and Chanda “Dara” Jacob came all the way from the lower bracket to defeat LG Altair of Ateneo, which was on the heels of their loss against bitter rivals Viridis Arcus of La Salle the week before. Ateneo came in as the favorites in their matchup however they could not stop a rampaging PUP squad as they win a tightly contested affair, 3-2.
LG Altair drew first blood in Hardpoint at Raid 250-131 to grab an early 1-0 lead but the Pylon Phantoms immediately struck back, winning 7-5 in Search and Destroy at Standoff to tie the series up.
A back and forth affair ensued between the two teams with ADMU winning game 3 in Domination at Takeoff 150-126 and PUP taking game 4 back in Hardpoint at Standoff 250-171 to set up a winner-take-all game 5.
In the fifth and final game in Search and Destroy at Hacienda, the Pylon Phantoms ran amok at a hapless LG Altair squad which seemed disoriented right from the get-go. PUP built a commanding 6-0 lead which was too tough for Ateneo to overcome which led them to eventually win 7-2.
With their win, PUP will advance to the grand finals to face other finalists Viridis Arcus of DLSU in an offline LAN setting to be held at SMX Convention Center in CONQuest Festival 2022, on July 23-24.
