Minecraft Developer Mojang Releases Card Game, Scrolls
Mojang, the developer of the much acclaimed sandbox video game Minecraft, announced that they have launched Scrolls on PC and Android, Thursday, Dec.10. Scrolls is a collectible card game that combines elements from trading card games and board games.
The game’s goal is to destroy three out of five “idols” (a statue-like structure) that have ten health points each. As far as gameplay is concerned, players can put their cards only on their side of the field but can cast any spells anywhere else, making positioning a vital skill in this game.
The game has five modes, ranging from tutorials to competitive ranked matches, each requiring a different level of play and depth. To give you a better idea of what Scrolls is about, check out its official launch trailer:
Scrolls has been in open beta phase since June 2013 and an iPad version is expected to be released by next year.
There will be a free demo version upon release, as well as a full version of the game for $5.00. Although the demo of the game is still not available on Google Play, PC and Mac, users can download it here.
